Welcome to the Website of All Saints Church, Edmonton, North London
Our church tower was restored between 2015 and 2016, thanks to a generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Welcome to All Saints,
We are the founding parish church of Edmonton, continually seeking to find
ways to serve the community in the light of Jesus’ love for all. We are
the oldest church in Edmonton and can be found just around the corner from
Edmonton Green.
Having been founded in the 12 th Century, All Saints continues
the tradition started of a Christian presence on this site. Here at All
Saints, we welcome everyone, inviting them to experience the love of God in
this sacred place.
Christmas at All Saints 2024
Advent started on Sunday 1st December and we mark its beginning with less
light penetrating our days and the night-time feeling longer. Advent comes
in the darkest part of the year, as we move toward the shortest day when
there is the least light and where we are cocooned in a place of reflection
and repentance as we await the birth of hope.
There feels a need to withdraw and wait for this time to be over. This
complements the themes of the season of watching and waiting for the coming
of the Christ child. The child of light is born to obliterate darkness from
the world, to pave a new way of living. Advent holds for us that
expectation and renewal of hope which is ushered in with the birth of the
baby Jesus in a stable. We look forward to this day when Emmanuel arrives,
God with us.
Sunday 1st December was the first Sunday of Advent, the beginning of the
four-week season leading us to Christmas. Each Sunday is marked by the
lighting of a series of five candles, three purple and one pink with the
final white candle being lit on Christmas Day. Please remember all services
during Advent on Sunday are at the usual time of 10am.
During this period there are several different seasonal offerings:
Sunday 15th December
Carol Service, starting at 6pm.
Come and enjoy listening to and singing your favourite carols. Seasonal
refreshments will be available after the service.
Saturday 22nd December
Blue Christmas Service at 4pm.
This is a service for those who may find Christmas difficult with all the
festivities which may remind them of a bereavement, a broken relationship, a
deep sadness or being lonely. We welcome all to join us in creating a
reflection space where all of this is held in the sacred space of All Saints
Tuesday 24th December
Crib Service at 4pm.
Tuesday 24th December Midnight Mass at 11.30pm
This intimate service with the glow of candles recreates the warmth and stillness of that wonderful night when Jesus was born in the humble setting of a stable.
Wednesday 25th December Christmas Day All Age Eucharist at 10am
Come along with family and friends on Sunday morning for this service for all ages, as we join to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the light of the world
Please accept this invitation to join us in celebrating this season and in welcoming the Light of the World, into this contemporary time as this year as the light falls on the people and places whose lives have been so detrimentally affected by those whose actions have caused pain and suffering on their lives.
As the light of hope enters the world, All Saints Church in Edmonton offers you every blessing for this special season and for peace, joy and happiness to be with you and all you love.
